An AHRC funded community engagement project for Birmingham City University with Midlands Arts Centre, Children’s Society and Celebrating Sanctuary Birmingham.
Over Feb. Mar and Apr a group of local Birmingham Congolese and jazz musicians came together to develop new music and work with young newly arrived refugees who attend My Place youth club hosted by the Children’s Society. With the support of Mac Makes Music we performed at Midlands Arts Centre in April to a 122 strong audience that culminated in many joining the band on stage to dance and celebrate.
Thanks to AHRC, Children’s Society, Mac Makes Music, Celebrating Sanctuary and all the amazing young people involved!
